Starting July 26, 2025, the Old Kopri Bridge, a key connector between Thane West and East, will remain closed for traffic at specific hours over eight days due to critical infrastructure work under the SATIS (Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme) project in Thane East.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of massive steel girders on the SATIS bridge being constructed on the east side of Thane railway station. The project is being executed as part of Thane’s Smart City mission, with a budget of ₹260 crore.

The SATIS project in Thane East had been facing delays due to pending work on the installation of girders on pillars constructed on both sides of the railway tracks. After prolonged technical challenges, the Railway Department has finally approved 14 two-hour megablocks to complete this critical task.
The girders to be installed are massive—46 meters long and 12 meters wide—and require careful placement above the live railway tracks. Hence, traffic movement on the old Kopri bridge must be restricted during specific time windows.
