Thane to Face 24-Hour Water Cut on October 9: Check Affected Areas and Schedule

10% water cut in Mumbai, Thane from today.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced a 24-hour water cut across several parts of Thane on Thursday, October 9, due to essential maintenance and upgradation work being carried out by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

According to the civic body, the MIDC will conduct urgent repairs and improvement work on the Barvi Gravity Main pipelines No. 1, 2, and 3 at the Jambhul Water Treatment Plant reservoir. The work will require a complete shutdown of water supply from 12:00 am on Thursday, October 9, to 12:00 am on Friday, October 10.

Areas Affected by the Water Cut

The water cut will impact several regions in Thane that receive their supply from the MIDC network. These include:

  • Diva

  • Mumbra (excluding parts of wards 26 and 31)

  • Entire Kalwa Ward

  • Specific areas in Wagle Ward — Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, and Nehru Nagar

  • Kolset Khalsa village under the Manpada Ward

Residents in these areas will face a complete disruption of water supply for 24 hours. The TMC has also cautioned that water pressure may remain low for one to two days after the restoration of supply.

Civic Appeal to Residents

The TMC’s Water Supply Department has urged citizens to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciouslyduring this period. The department has also requested residents to cooperate with the civic authorities to ensure smooth completion of the maintenance work and timely resumption of normal water supply.

Temporary Reduction in Water Supply for Other Parts of Thane

In addition to the full-day shutdown, Thane city is also experiencing a 10% reduction in water supply from Tuesday, October 7 to Thursday, October 9, 2025, due to upgradation work by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The BMC is upgrading electricity meters at the Pise and Panjrapur power stations, which has temporarily impacted the water supply to Thane. Out of Thane’s total water supply, 85 million litres per day (MLD) comes from the BMC’s sources.

The following areas within Thane city are affected by the reduced supply:
Naupada, Pachpakhadi, Hajuri, Luiswadi, Raghunath Nagar, Namdev Wadi, Sainath Nagar, Ramchandra Nagar 1, Kisan Nagar 1 and 2, Shivaji Nagar, Padval Nagar, Janata Slum, Shivshakti Nagar, Karwalo Nagar, Ambika Nagar, Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Jai Bhavani Nagar, Kajuwadi, Jijamata Nagar, Balkum Pada No.1, Laxmi Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Manpada (Nal Pada), Kopri Dhobighat, Gavdevi (Luiswadi) Water Tank, Tekdi Bangla Water Tank, Bhatwadi, Indiranagar, Anand Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Kopri Kanhaiya Nagar.

With the dual impact of the 10% supply cut and the 24-hour shutdown, the TMC has urged Thane residents to plan their daily water usage wisely and take necessary precautions to avoid inconvenience.
