In a decisive move, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has ordered the closure of 81 schools in Maharashtra’s Thane district. This decision comes in response to a report highlighting the illegal operation of schools within the city. The civic body has directed all unauthorized schools to shut down immediately.
Breakdown of Unauthorized Schools: 79 English Medium, 2 Hindi Medium
Out of the 81 schools identified, 79 operate as English medium institutions, while the remaining two are Hindi medium. Some of these schools are reportedly managed by prominent business groups, according to a list released by TMC’s education department on Monday, January 27.
Focus on Mumbra and Diva
The majority of these unauthorized schools are located in Thane’s Mumbra and Diva areas. The administration has urged parents to avoid enrolling their children in these institutions.
Warning to School Management
The TMC has issued a stern warning to the management of these schools, stating that strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the closure orders. The move aims to ensure compliance with educational regulations and protect the interests of students and parents.
