Social media often serves as a reservoir of inspirational stories that leave us with valuable lessons, provided we choose to see the positive in them. One such story, captured in a viral Instagram video, features an elderly couple near Thane Railway Station who have melted the hearts of netizens with their simple yet profound love story.
The video, shared by influencer Siddesh Lokare, has garnered over 8 million views and resonates with a heartwarming message, perfectly timed as we transition into the new year.
In the clip, the elderly man, Bhimrao, who is visually impaired, introduces himself alongside his wife, Shobha, to whom he has been married for 43 years. The couple runs a modest snack stall near Thane station. When Lokare asked Bhimrao about their wedding date, he promptly replied, “March 12, 1982,” with Shobha adding warmly, “We’ve been married for 43 years.”
The couple shared glimpses of their daily life, demonstrating how they support one another in every possible way. Shobha revealed that Bhimrao lost his vision at the age of two, but this did not deter her from choosing to spend her life with him. “We imagine ourselves in each other’s shoes, always,” she said. Bhimrao further added, “We decided to complete each other and stay together as life partners.” Shobha described their bond with a single word: “Jeevansaathi (life partners).”
Their relationship, as depicted in the video, is built on a foundation of mutual respect and teamwork. Shobha proudly shared that Bhimrao’s vegetable-cutting skills rival those of professional chefs. When asked about their definition of love, Shobha replied, “We fight, but we can’t stay apart for even two minutes. It’s like utensils in a kitchen—they collide but never break.” Bhimrao smiled and agreed.
Despite their cheerful demeanor, the couple expressed a heartfelt wish—a stall where they could sell their snacks without the need to stand all day. Their message to the world was clear and profound: “Hard work is everything. You can’t live just for yourself. If you live for others, you truly live.”
The video ends with a beautiful and thought-provoking caption, as quoted by India Today: “Live for someone else, too.”
