The Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena released its first list of 45 candidates for the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections on Tuesday. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to seek re-election from the Kopri-Panchpakhadi seat in Thane city.
Most of the candidates on this list are MLAs who had supported Shinde during his 2022 revolt against Uddhav Thackeray. Key ministers such as Gulabrao Patil (Jalgaon Rural), Deepak Kesarkar (Sawantwadi), Abdul Sattar (Silod), and Shambhuraj Desai (Patan) have all been renominated. Additionally, Kiran Samant, brother of Maharashtra’s Industries Minister Uday Samant, will contest from Rajapur.
Notably, Sadanand Shankar Sarvankar has been fielded from the Mahim seat, where he will face off against Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.
