Thane is set to experience a 24-hour water supply suspension in various areas over the next week due to critical repairs and reduced water levels. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decreased water supply to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), leading to a significant impact on the city’s water availability.
Cause of Water Cut
A technical issue in the ‘Pneumatic Gate System’ at Pise, which supplies water from BMC, necessitated urgent repairs that began on Sunday, December 1, and are expected to continue until December 5. Additionally, reduced water levels in the Bhatsa River dam have further exacerbated the situation, causing a 30% water cut for TMC.
To ensure minimal disruption across the city, the TMC has scheduled a 24-hour suspension of water supply in different areas on a rotational basis, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 AM the next day.
