Thane commuters have a reason to celebrate! The city is set to receive 100 air-conditioned electric buses in April this year, announced local MP Naresh Mhaske. These buses will be added to the Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) fleet under the PM E-Bus Service scheme, as confirmed in a release from his office on Wednesday.
With Thane’s rapidly growing population, the city faces an increasing demand for public transport. The MP has urged the central government to allocate more buses under the scheme to meet this need. Additionally, he has called for an increase in the current subsidy of ₹24 per kilometer to ₹29 per kilometer.
To enhance operational flexibility, the MP also suggested reducing the daily minimum requirement for the buses to ply from 200 kilometers to 160 kilometers under the PM E-Bus Service scheme.
This development promises to improve Thane’s public transport infrastructure while promoting eco-friendly travel options for the city’s residents.
